Senior Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad said many people have compared opener Abdullah Shafique to legendary India cricketer Rahul Dravid, but questioned “when will this special talent perform for Pakistan”.
Shafique’s form has taken a sharp dip lately, especially during the ODI series against South Africa, where he was dismissed for three ducks in a row.
In addition to this, the 25-year-old from Sialkot has also lost his place in the Test team due to his inconsistent performances.
“Abdullah seems to be in an ongoing love affair with ducks. Many have compared him to Rahul Dravid, but when will this special talent perform for Pakistan?” Shehzad was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Shafique was not picked for the two-Test series against the West Indies, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
On top of that, he failed to make the cut for the ongoing ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, and the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be held from February 19 to March 9.
