Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed has slammed head coach Aaqib Javed for being “too focused on spin”.
He noted that Aaqib’s obsession with preparing spin-friendly pitches for Test matches at home is harming the Pakistan batsmen.
Tanvir noted that the batters in the Test squad are struggling to score runs since the conditions are incredibly tough and offer immense support to spinners, meaning there is significant turn and bounce.
The 46-year-old urged Aaqib to stop making the pitches overly spin-friendly as it will backfire in the long run.
“Aaqib Javed is too focused on spin; he can’t understand that our batters are having difficulty scoring runs due to the spin tracks,” he was quoted as saying by TOK Sports on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan recently faced the West Indies in a two-Test series in Multan, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
They are now taking on New Zealand and South Africa in an ODI tri-series, after which they will feature in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be held from February 19 to March 9.
