Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal said pace bowler Mohammad Abbas has proved those “who kept him out of the team” wrong.
Abbas made his Test return after three years when he featured in the two-Test between Pakistan and South Africa in Centurion.
The 34-year-old from Sialkot put on a show in 1st Test as he claimed seven wickets, including a career-best 6-54 in the second innings that nearly won Pakistan the game.
Ultimately, he finished with 10 wickets in the series at an average of 24.60.
Having seen Abbas’ brilliant bowling, Akmal called his performance “unforgettable” and questioned why he was left out of the Test squad for so many years.
“Mohammad Abbas proved wrong those who kept him out of the team. His performance is unforgettable,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Interestingly, Abbas was not picked in Pakistan’s team for the two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
He was also overlooked for the ongoing ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, and the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will take place from February 19 to March 9.
