Former left-arm seamer Samiullah Khan sees up-and-coming fast bowler Akif Javed becoming a “future star for Pakistan”.
Akif has been in phenomenal form as of late, whether it be in domestic cricket or T20 leagues.
In the Champions T20 Cup, he was the joint third-highest wicket-taker with 15 wickets in 10 matches for the Markhors at an average of 20.86.
He then featured for the Rangpur Riders in the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) and finished as the joint second-highest wicket-taker with 20 wickets in 11 games at an average of 14.30.
Given how well the 24-year-old from Kohat has been doing, Samiullah thinks it is only a matter of time before he is playing international cricket.
“Akif Javed is a future star for Pakistan,” he told PakPassion.
Akif was not picked for Pakistan’s recent tours of Australia, Zimbabawe and South Africa, and their two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan.
He also hasn’t been selected for the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, nor the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be held from February 19 to March 9.

Akif is an exceptional talent
These Afridi’s ruined our cricket
