Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed has called on head coach Aaqib Javed to resign following the team’s performance in the recent two-Test series against the West Indies.

In addition to Aaqib, Tanvir wants national selectors Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq to step down from their roles as well. Azhar also serves as the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) head of youth development.

The men in green recently faced the West Indies in Multan and had an impressive showing in the 1st Test, which they won by 127 runs.

It was a much different story in the 2nd Test as the West Indies bounced back to triumph by 120 runs, which gave them their first Test win in Pakistan since 1990.

Considering that the conditions were perfectly tailored to Pakistan’s spinners, Tanvir admitted he was in shock that the national team ended up losing the 2nd Test.

“Aaqib Javed, Azhar Ali and Asad Shafiq should all resign,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan will now face New Zealand and South Africa in an ODI tri-series before going on to play in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will take place from February 19 to March 9.
