Pakistan spinner Sajid Khan has revealed that he was a “genuine batter in age-group cricket” and works on his batting at practice every day.
The 31-year-old has played some handy knocks in Test cricket, where he has scored 206 runs in 12 matches, which includes a top score of 48 not out, at an average of 14.71.
Along with that, he has taken 59 wickets, which includes four five-wicket hauls, at an average of 27.28.
Sajid was recently in action in Pakistan’s two-Test series against the West Indies in Multan and finished with 15 wickets, which included a five-for, at an average of 17.
He also made 46 runs at an average of 15.33.
“I was a genuine batter in age-group cricket, and then after that, I started bowling off-spin. I enjoy my batting a lot. I credit Aaqib Bhai and the team management because, for all the spinners and fast bowlers, there are 45-50 minutes for batting practice daily,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Since Sajid has only featured in Test cricket, he wasn’t picked in Pakistan’s team for the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa.
He also wasn’t considered for selection for the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be played from February 19 to March 9.
