Mohammad Amir has predicted that fellow Pakistan left-arm seamer Shaheen Shah Afridi will take early wickets in the 2025 Champions Trophy match against India on February 23 in Dubai.
Afridi has started getting back to his best and looks ready to unleash his 140 kph bowling in the tournament.
Recently, the 24-year-old toured South Africa with the Pakistan team and took three wickets in two T20Is at an average of 19.66.
He followed that up with seven wickets in three ODIs at an average of 23.28.
Considering the fact that Afridi is starting to find his groove again, Amir is confident he will be a force to be reckoned with in the Champions Trophy.
“I think Shaheen Afridi will take early wickets against India in the Champions Trophy match in Dubai. I took early wickets in the 2017 Champions Trophy final against India and Shaheen will do it now,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Afridi missed Pakistan’s two-Test series against South Africa and the West Indies.
However, he is set to be back in action in the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa before going on to play in the Champions Trophy, which will take place from February 19 to March 9.
