Former Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez is thrilled to see fast bowler Haris Rauf playing first-class cricket, saying it gives him an opportunity to “polish his skills technically and tactically”.

Rauf, who has only played one Test match for Pakistan, is currently in action for Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited in the President’s Trophy Grade-I tournament.

In two games, the 31-year-old has taken six wickets at an average of 25.50.

Having shown good signs so far, Hafeez has backed Rauf to become an even better bowler since he is taking the time to hone his skills in domestic cricket.

“His return to domestic first-class cricket will help him to polish his skills technically and tactically,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Rauf was recently in action in Pakistan’s limited overs series against South Africa, where he went wicketless in both the T20Is and ODIs.

He was not considered for selection for the two-Test series against South Africa and the West Indies.

However, he has been picked for the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, and the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be played from February 19 to March 9.
