Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad has claimed that he has “not even delivered 35 percent of my potential”.
Shehzad, who used to be one of Pakistan’s go-to batsmen, blamed this on senior players, coaches and officials in [the] PCB who were not good to me”.
The 33-year-old from Lahore has not played international cricket since October 2019 and last featured in domestic cricket in May 2024.
He also recently said that he didn’t want to play in the 2025 Pakistan Super League (PSL), also known as PSL 10, adding the PCB included his name in the draft purely for “false, cheap publicity and to generate pre-hype”.
“I have not even delivered 35 percent of my potential due to some senior players, coaches and officials in [the] PCB who were not good to me,” Shehzad was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team recently toured South Africa and lost the T20I series 2-0 before bouncing back to claim a 3-0 victory in the ODIs.
As for the two-Test series, they were whitewashed 2-0.
The men in green then returned home to take on the West Indies in a two-Test series in Multan, which ended as a 1-1 draw.
Pakistan are now gearing up for an ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, after which they will take part in the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be held from February 19 to March 9.
