Wicketkeeper Azam Khan believes Babar Azam is Pakistan’s best batsman and urged people to learn from him when it comes to consistency.
Babar has been the backbone of Pakistan’s batting line-up across all three formats for a number of years.
Despite not being in the best of form lately, Azam noted that Babar sticks to the basics and doesn’t try to do anything drastic.
Like Babar, Azam feels India batsman Virat Kohli is the epitome of consistency as he has been a top-tier performer for years on end.
“I think everyone should learn consistency from Babar Azam and Virat Kohli and the dedication they have towards their work. Even If the world falls apart and they aren’t able to perform, they will stick to their basics and both of them are the best batters of their respective countries currently,” he was quoted as saying by Sports Tak.
Babar recently travelled to South Africa with the Pakistan team and kicked off his campaign with 31 runs in two T20Is at an average of 15.50.
He performed a lot better in the ODIs, amassing 148 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 49.33.
The Lahore native maintained his momentum in the two-Test series as well, accumulating 193 runs, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 48.25.
After this, Babar took part in Pakistan’s two-Test series against the West Indies, but was unable to have as much of an impact as he mustered 45 runs at an average of 11.25.
With Babar having shown encouraging signs in the limited overs series against South Africa, he was included in Pakistan’s team for the ODI tri-series against New Zealand and South Africa, and the 2025 Champions Trophy, which will be played from February 19 to March 9.
