Pakistan left-arm pace bowler Mohammad Amir believes the men in green have the upper hand over India going into the clash in the 2025 Champions Trophy.
The two arch-rivals will go head to head on February 23 in Dubai.
While India have won most of the encounters in ICC tournaments, Amir pointed out that the men in green have posted a number of strong results in ODI cricket as of late.
They beat Australia 2-1, Zimbabwe 2-1 and whitewashed South Africa 3-0.
Considering the men in green’s form in the 50-over format, along with India’s “recent defeats”, Amir feels that Pakistan could very well beat India in the Champions Trophy.
“The way Pakistan has been playing recently – defeating Australia in Australia and beating South Africa – shows their strength, especially in overseas conditions. Based on their recent performances, I think Pakistan will have the upper hand against India,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
“India has always been my favorite in big tournaments. But the Indian team is under pressure and facing severe criticism due to their recent defeats.”
Pakistan’s most recent assignment was a two-Test series against the West Indies, which finished as a 1-1 draw.
