Pakistan Test captain Shan Masood has heaped praise on speedster Mohammad Abbas, saying he is “my type of bowler”.
Abbas made his Test comeback in the series against South Africa and didn’t disappoint as he took 10 wickets at an average of 24.60.
The 34-year-old’s most notable performance came in the 2nd innings of the 1st Test in Centurion, where he registered career-best figures of 6-54.
“I’ve been captain for a year so I can only speak for the conversations that happened during that time. Abbas was someone who was my type of bowler in that if you want to build up stocks of fast bowlers, he definitely slots in there,” Masood was quoted as saying by ESPNcricinfo.
Despite Abbas’ outstanding bowling, the men in green were beaten 2-0 by South Africa.
Pakistan are now taking on the West Indies in a two-Test series, but Abbas was not selected in the squad.
The men in green won the 1st Test by 127 runs and will look to complete a 2-0 whitewash in the 2nd Test, which starts on January 25 in Multan.
