Former Pakistan left-arm seamer Junaid Khan has admitted that it is good to see fellow speedster Mohammad Abbas back in the Test team.
Abbas made his comeback after three years in the 1st Test against South Africa in Centurion, where he stole the spotlight with his outstanding bowling.
The 34-year-old finished the match with seven wickets, including career-best figures of 6-54 in the 2nd innings.
In the 2nd Test in Cape Town, he claimed three wickets, which ultimately saw him end up with 10 wickets in the series at an average of 24.60.
Even though Abbas’ valiant effort wasn’t enough to stop Pakistan from losing the series 2-0, Junaid noted that the Sialkot native deserved to get another chance to showcase his talent at the international level.
“Good to see Mohammad Abbas make a comeback to the Test side,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Next up for Pakistan will be a two-Test series against the West Indies, which will take place in Karachi and Multan from January 16 to 28.
Despite his strong showing in the series against South Africa, Abbas was not selected for two Tests against the West Indies.
