Former Pakistan cricketer Atiq-uz-Zaman believes batsman Haseebullah Khan “is not a T20 player yet” and should instead play ODI cricket.

Haseebullah has represented his country in three T20Is and mustered 36 runs at an average of 12.

In regards to his ODI career, he has only played one game, which came during Pakistan’s recent tour of Zimbabwe, but was dismissed for a second-ball duck.

Despite failing to impress in his ODI debut, Atiq wants to see the 21-year-old from Pishin get more opportunities in 50-over cricket.

“Haseebullah is not a T20 player yet. What did he achieve in domestic T20s? Play him in ODIs,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan recently travelled to Australia and won the ODI series 2-1 before being demolished 3-0 in the T20Is.

After this, they went to Zimbabwe and triumphed 2-1 in both the ODI and T20I series.

The men in green then headed to South Africa and lost the T20I series 2-0 before fighting back to secure a 3-0 victory in the ODIs.

As for the two-Test series, the Proteas triumphed 2-0.

Next up for Pakistan will be a two-Test series against the West Indies, which will be held in Karachi and Multan from January 16 to 28.
