Jason Gillespie: “He just hasn’t been able to convert his starts”

Former Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie has admitted that Babar Azam has not been able to convert his strong starts into big scores.
Azam’s inconsistent performances with the bat have become a cause for concern for the men in green as he is their go-to run-scorer.
The 30-year-old recently featured in Pakistan’s two-Test series against South Africa, where he amassed 193 runs, which included three fifties, at an average of 48.25.
Despite not being able to make the most of his strong starts, Gillespie is confident that Azam will overcome this hurdle.
“He just hasn’t been able to convert his starts,” he was quoted as saying by Samaa TV.
Next up for Pakistan will be a two-Test series against the West Indies, which will be played in Karachi and Multan from January 16 to 28.
