Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed said it was satisfying to see spinner Sufiyan Muqeem and all-rounder Qasim Akram represent the national team recently as he mentored both of them.
Muqeem was in action in Pakistan’s limited overs series against Australia and took two wickets in two T20Is at an average of 15.
He saw more game time during the tour of Zimbabwe as he claimed nine wickets in three T20Is, which included a five-wicket haul, at an eye-popping average of 4.66.
As for Qasim, he featured in one T20I against Zimbabwe and scored 20 runs.
“I am satisfied that some of my players, like Sufiyan Muqeem and Qasim Akram, progressed to a good distance and are serving various Pakistan sides,” Sarfaraz was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Pakistan just finished touring South Africa and in the three-match T20I series, Muqeem picked up one wicket in one game at an average of 53.
The men in green lost the T20I series 2-0, but rebounded to clinch the ODI series 3-0.
Muqeem made his ODI debut in the series and took four wickets at an average of 13.
Pakistan and South Africa then played two Tests, with the Proteas coming out on top 2-0.
Next up for Pakistan will be a two-Test series against the West Indies, which will be played in Karachi and Multan from January 16 to 28.
