Pakistan batsman Babar Azam has confirmed that he is “feeling good as always” and enjoying his batting.
Azam’s form has been under intense scrutiny over the past few months as he has failed to score runs regularly in all three formats.
During Pakistan’s tour of Australia, he made 80 runs in three ODIs at an average of 80.
He followed it up with 47 runs in three T20Is at an average of 15.66.
After this, Pakistan embarked on a trip to Zimbabwe, but Azam was rested for both the ODI and T20I series.
The 30-year-old returned for the tour of South Africa and began by making 31 runs in two T20Is at an average of 15.50.
Azam showed signs of getting back into form in the ODI series as he accumulated 148 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 49.33.
“I’m feeling good as always, I’m enjoying my batting and I’m focusing on my preparations,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Farid Khan on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan and South Africa just finished playing a two-Test series and Azam looked to be nearing his best as he ended up making 193 runs, which included three half-centuries, at an average of 48.25.
Next up for Pakistan will be a two-Test series against the West Indies, which will take place in Karachi and Multan from January 16 to 28.
