Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Sarfaraz Ahmed has made it clear that he won’t be rushed into retiring, saying he will quit when he is ready.
His comments come after he hinted that he may announce his retirement in the near future.
Sarfaraz hasn’t played international cricket since December 2023 and has only featured in domestic matches sporadically over the last few months.
Nonetheless, he reiterated that he will decide when he is ready to walk away from the sport.
“As far as leaving cricket is concerned, that is my personal decision. When I feel that I should quit cricket, I will quit,” the 37-year-old was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan recently toured Australia for a limited overs series and came out on top 2-1 in the ODI series before being crushed 3-0 in the T20Is.
The men in green then travelled to Zimbabwe and won both the ODI and T20I series 2-1.
As for their ongoing tour of South Africa, Pakistan lost the T20I series 2-0 before rebounding to whitewash the Proteas 3-0 in the ODIs.
Pakistan and South Africa are now playing a two-Test series, which the Proteas lead 1-0 after winning the 1st Test in Centurion by two wickets.
The 2nd Test will get underway on January 3 in Cape Town.
