Ahmed Shehzad: “This is how you’ve rewarded him? Just as he was becoming a superstar, you discarded him like a fly from milk”

Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad is disgusted with the way spinner Sajid Khan has been treated as of late, saying he has been discarded “like a fly from milk”.
This comes after Sajid was dropped for the upcoming two-Test series against South Africa since the conditions in the country are more pace-friendly.
However, considering Sajid played an instrumental role in helping Pakistan defeat England 2-1 in their three-Test series in October 2024, Shehzad cannot believe the selectors would cast the 31-year-old aside so easily.
It should be noted that during the Test series against England, Sajid took 19 wickets in two matches, which included two five-wicket hauls, at an average of 21.10.
“You should be thanking Sajid because in the slump Pakistan cricket has been stuck in for the last three-and-a-half years – where it had hit rock bottom and people had started laughing at your cricket – he won matches for you. And this is how you’ve rewarded him? Just as he was becoming a superstar, you discarded him like a fly from milk,” Shehzad said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan recently toured Australia for a white-ball series and won the ODIs 2-1 before being crushed 3-0 in the T20Is.
The men in green then went to Zimbabwe and triumphed 2-1 in both the ODI and T20I series.
As for the ongoing tour of South Africa, they began by losing the T20I series 2-0 before rebounding to claim a comprehensive 3-0 victory in the ODIs.
Pakistan and South Africa are now involved in a two-Test series, which the Proteas lead 1-0 after winning the 1st Test in Centurion by two wickets.
The 2nd Test will begin on January 3 in Cape Town.
