Iconic Pakistan batsman Younis Khan believes the national team can score 400 runs in an ODI if big-hitting openers Saim Ayub and Fakhar Zaman play together.

Ayub is part of Pakistan’s squad in all three formats right now and has established himself as one of the go-to openers.

However, the same cannot be said for Zaman, who was not selected for Pakistan’s last few limited overs series against Australia, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

With the 2025 Champions Trophy fast approaching, Zaman insisted that both players have to be in the team if the men in green want to post imposing totals.

“If Fakhar and Saim play together, we can score 400 in a One-Day match,” he was quoted as saying by Geo Super.

During their tour of Australia, Pakistan won the ODI series 2-1 before being thrashed 3-0 in the T20Is.

They then went to Zimbabwe and registered a 2-1 victory in both the ODI and T20I series.

Pakistan are now in South Africa and lost the T20I series 2-0 before rebounding to secure a 3-0 win in the ODIs.

Currently, the Proteas hold a 1-0 lead in the two-Test series after winning the 1st Test in Centurion by two wickets.

The 2nd Test will begin on January 3 in Cape Town.
