Pakistan opening batsman Imam-ul-Haq is eyeing a T20I comeback after only playing two matches, the last of which came in November 2019.
In the two games he played, Imam only managed to score 21 runs at an average of 10.50.
However, he noted that “equal opportunities are very important for players” and wants to be given another chance to prove himself in the future.
Recently, the 29-year-old featured in the Champions T20 Cup and amassed 256 runs in nine matches for the Lions, which included two fifties, at an average of 32 and a strike-rate of 136.17.
“Equal opportunities are very important for players. However my aim is to perform in T20 as well [as] other formats and get considered for [the] T20 side of Pakistan,” Imam was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan recently toured Australia for a white-ball series and won the ODIs 2-1 before being thumped 3-0 in the T20Is.
They then travelled to Zimbabwe and triumphed 2-1 in both the ODI and T20I series.
As for their ongoing tour of South Africa, the men in green lost the T20I series 2-0 before bouncing back to whitewash the Proteas 3-0 in the ODIs.
Pakistan and South Africa are now playing two Tests, with the first match having begun on December 26 in Centurion.
