Legendary Pakistan six-hitter Shahid Afridi believes fast-bowling all-rounder Aamer Jamal can become the next Abdul Razzaq.

Jamal has put up a number of impressive performances so far, especially in Test cricket, which is where most of his noteworthy highlights have come.

The 28-year-old has taken 19 wickets in six Tests at an average of 28.05.

He has also amassed 257 runs, which includes two fifties, at an average of 28.55.

In terms of his ODI career, Jamal has claimed three wickets in three matches at an average of 28.33 and scored five runs in total.

As for his T20I career, the Mianwali native has picked up two wickets in six games at an average of 93.50 and accumulated 88 runs at an average of 22.

Afridi sees a lot of promising signs in Jamal and thinks he can have the same kind of impact Razzaq had back in the day.

“Aamer Jamal can perform the same way Abdul Razzaq had done for Pakistan for so many years,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Jamal was recently in action during Pakistan’s trip to Zimbabwe and took three wickets in three ODIs at an average of 28.33.

In the ongoing tour of South Africa, he didn’t feature in the T20I and ODI series.

However, he is part of the Test squad for the upcoming two-match series, which starts on December 26 in Centurion.
