Pakistan spinner Abrar Ahmed has acknowledged the firepower opening batsman Saim Ayub possesses, saying if he gets going, “he’ll turn the match [into] a one-sided affair”.
Ayub has been in fantastic form for the men in green lately as he scored 125 runs in three ODIs against Australia, which included a top score of 82, at an average of 41.66.
He continued to impress in Pakistan’s three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe as he amassed 155 runs, which included a career-best 113 not out, at an average of 77.50.
As for the three T20Is that followed, he made 60 runs at an average of 60.
“No doubt, everyone knows about Saim Ayub that if he gets going, he’ll turn the match [into] a one-sided affair. I sincerely wish that he keeps performing like this and continues winning matches for Pakistan,” Abrar was quoted as saying by Geo Super.
Pakistan are now touring South Africa and Ayub has maintained his red-hot form as he accumulated 129 runs in two T20Is, which included a career-best knock of 98 not out, at an average of 129.
In the ongoing ODI series, the 22-year-old from Karachi has posted scores of 109 and 25 in the first two matches.
Pakistan are 2-0 up going into the 3rd ODI, which will be held on December 22 in Johannesburg.
Once the ODIs are done, Pakistan and South Africa will play a two-Test series, which will begin on December 26 in Centurion.
