Pakistan batsman Haris Sohail has made it clear that he is not retiring and has vowed to keep playing competitive cricket.

His comments come after reports started surfacing on social media that he had decided to bring the curtains down on his playing career.

Sohail last played international cricket in January 2023 when he represented the men in green in an ODI against New Zealand in Karachi.

The 35-year-old from Sialkot hasn’t been playing domestic cricket recently as his most recent domestic fixture came in November 2023.

“I have not made any decision to retire, nor do I have any such intention. My full focus is on continuing to play the game that I love,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

The Pakistan team recently visited Australia for a limited overs series and came away with mixed results as they won the ODI series 2-1 before being whitewashed 3-0 in the T20Is.

After this, they travelled to Zimbabwe and won both the ODI and T20I series 2-1.

Currently, Pakistan are in South Africa and started off by losing the three-match T20I series 2-0.

The men in green have bounced back in the ongoing ODI series as they lead 2-0 heading into the 3rd ODI on December 22 in Johannesburg.

Once the ODIs conclude, Pakistan and South Africa will play two Tests, with the first match starting on December 26 in Centurion.
