Pakistan big-hitting batsman Sohaib Maqsood believes up-and-coming talent Faisal Akram can become “one of the best white-ball wrist-spinners” in the world.
Faisal is one of the top prospects in the country and was recently given the opportunity to showcase what he can do at the international level when he made his debut in the three-match ODI series against Zimbabwe.
In those three games, the 21-year-old took five wickets at an average of 16.
Maqsood is excited about the talent Faisal possesses, but advised the youngster to “add some pace to his bowling” in order to be even more lethal.
“Faisal Akram, with a little more pace [in] his bowling speed, can be one of the best white-ball wrist-spinners in future in the world, but he still needs to add some pace to his bowling, a bit slow at the moment,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan are now touring South Africa and started off in dismal fashion as they were crushed 2-0 in the T20I series.
However, the men in green have bounced back in the ongoing ODI series as they hold an unassailable 2-0 lead going into the 3rd ODI on December 22 in Johannesburg.
Once the ODIs conclude, Pakistan and South Africa will play a two-Test series, which begins on December 26 in Centurion.
