Mark Waugh: “Jahandad Khan reminds me a bit of Mohammad Amir”

Legendary Australia batsman Mark Waugh revealed that up-and-coming Pakistan fast-bowling all-rounder Jahandad Khan reminds him of Mohammad Amir.

Amir has troubled batsmen throughout his career with his raw pace and ability to swing the ball both ways.

Having seen Jahandad in action during Pakistan’s limited overs tour of Australia in November 2024, Waugh pointed out that he spotted certain similarities between the 21-year-old and Amir.

“Jahandad Khan reminds me a bit of Mohammad Amir,” he was quoted as saying by Khel Shel on X, formerly known as Twitter.

In the three-match T20I series against Australia, Jahandad only featured in one game, where he made five runs and took the wicket of opening batsman Jake Fraser-McGurk.

The Rawalpindi native then proceeded to play all three T20Is against Zimbabwe and scored six runs to go with three wickets at an average of 24.

As for the recent three-match T20I series against South Africa, he once again was only selected for one game but snapped up two wickets at an average of 20.

Pakistan are now facing the Proteas in an ODI series and lead 1-0 going into the 2nd ODI on December 19 in Cape Town.

After the ODIs are done, Pakistan and South Africa will play a two-Test series, which begins on December 26 in Centurion.
