Up-and-coming Pakistan all-rounder Jahandad Khan has admitted that he “left cricket in disappointment” at one point but ended up being convinced to keep going by his coach.
The 21-year-old made his international debut during the three-match T20I series against Australia in November 2024.
In the one game he played, he scored five runs and took one wicket.
He got more opportunities in the T20I series against Zimbabwe as he featured in all three matches and amassed six runs.
Bowling-wise, he claimed three wickets at an average of 24.
“I started my cricketing journey eight years ago from Ayub Stadium and faced a lot of challenges. I even left cricket in disappointment once but my coach Mubeen motivated me to continue,” Jahandad, who is from Rawalpindi, said in a video released by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) as quoted by Geo Super.
“Then I played a lot of cricket. I played PSL and first-class cricket.”
Pakistan are now touring South Africa and trail 1-0 in the ongoing three-match T20I series.
The 2nd T20I will take place on December 14 in Centurion.
Once the T20Is conclude, Pakistan and South Africa will play three ODIs and two Tests, which will begin on December 17 and December 26 respectively.
