Pakistan left-arm seamer Mohammad Amir expressed his shock at the fact that big-hitting batsman Fakhar Zaman was not picked for the recent white-ball series against Australia or the upcoming limited overs tour of Zimbabwe.

He noted that Zaman is the “only impact player we have in white-ball cricket” and questioned how the selectors could have left him out of the side.

Many believe the 34-year-old was dropped and lost his central contract for the 2024/25 season since he expressed his support for Babar Azam after the star batsman was removed from the squad midway through the three-Test series against England.

It remains to be seen if Zaman does end up making a comeback, but Amir feels he is too good to be ignored for selection.

“I am surprised that Fakhar Zaman is not in the team. He is the only impact player we have in white-ball cricket,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Pakistan beat Australia 2-1 in the three ODIs they played, which earned them their first ODI series win in the country since 2002.

However, they couldn’t maintain their momentum in the T20I series as they were whitewashed 3-0.

Pakistan will now head to Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
