Pakistan limited overs captain Mohammad Rizwan has lavished praise on big-hitting batsman Fakhar Zaman, saying he is capable of turning the tide of a match on his own.
Zaman has played numerous match-winning knocks for the men in green, but his future in international cricket remains unclear at the moment.
This comes after he showed his support for Babar Azam after the star batsman was dropped midway through the three-Test series against England.
After Zaman did this, he was not given a central contract for the 2024/25 season and wasn’t selected for the recent white-ball tour of Australia or the upcoming limited overs series against Zimbabwe.
While Rizwan made it clear that decisions regarding selection are not up to him, he knows how big of an impact the 34-year-old from Mardan can have when batting.
“Fakhar Zaman is a player who can impact the game significantly. However, the decisions regarding the team are not in our hands. He has the ability to turn a match on his own,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Pakistan won the ODI series against Australia 2-1, but were whitewashed 3-0 in the T20Is.
Their upcoming tour of Zimbabwe will consist of three ODIs and three T20Is, which will be held from November 24 to December 5.
