Saud Shakeel: “He batted with great command. It was really enjoyable, and I also enjoyed batting with him”

Pakistan Test vice-captain Saud Shakeel was mightily impressed with senior batsman Umar Amin for his superb knock of 177 in Pakistan A’s four-day game against Bangladesh A.
Amin, who last represented the national team in 2018, has been working hard to earn a recall to the side with strong performances.
Having made a big score for the Pakistan A team, Shakeel admitted that the 35-year-old “batted with great command”.
He also praised Amin for being a great mentor to younger players as he often gives them advice and helps them improve their game.
“First and foremost, a lot of credit goes to Umar Amin for playing a long innings in this heat, with such command and the strokes we saw from him were outstanding,” Shakeel was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
“Umar Amin is a very experienced player, and having him in the dressing room is quite helpful for the youngsters because he is a great person off the field as well and often guides the young players. Overall, he’s having a good time, and what was special about his innings… was that his strokes were visible all around the ground, and he batted with great command. It was really enjoyable, and I also enjoyed batting with him.”
Neither Shakeel nor Amin were part of Pakistan’s squad for the 2024 T20 World Cup, where the men in green were eliminated in the group stage.
Shakeel, however, did play in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh and accumulated 159 runs, which included a top score of 141, at an average of 39.75.
He followed that up with 280 runs in the three-Test series against England, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 56.
Pakistan are now taking on Australia and won the three-match ODI series 2-1.
However, they are currently 2-0 down in the three-match T20I series going into the final game on November 18 in Hobart.
After this, the men in green will embark on a tour of Zimbabwe, where they will play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
