Former cricketer Bazid Khan believes Pakistan have “discovered a gem” in middle order batsman Salman Ali Agha.
Bazid noted that Salman has an incredible knack of rising to the occasion and delivering fantastic performances in difficult situations.
This has been especially evident when the 30-year-old bats with tailenders as he is able to keep the scoreboard ticking and make valuable contributions before Pakistan are bowled out.
In the two-Test series against Bangladesh, Salman amassed 120 runs, which included a top score of 54, at an average of 40.
He followed that up with 262 runs, which included a century and two fifties, at an average of 65.50 in the three-Test series against England.
“Salman Ali Agha’s career is marked by resilience in adversity. His ability to partner with the tail, navigate spin, and deliver under pressure suggests Pakistan has discovered a gem capable of rising to challenging occasions,” Bazid was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Salman is now featuring in Pakistan’s limited overs series against Australia, which consists of three ODIs and three T20Is.
In the ODIs, he only batted once and made 12 runs. Nonetheless, the men in green triumphed 2-1, which was their first ODI series win in Australia since 2002.
As for the T20I series, the Lahore native scored four runs in the first match, which Australia won by 29 runs after it had been reduced to a seven-over showdown.
Following the Australia tour, Pakistan will head to Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
