Former England captain Nasser Hussain sees some similarities between Pakistan middle order batsman Kamran Ghulam and Australia superstar Steve Smith.
In particular, Hussain pointed out how the 29-year-old “defends the ball and charges”, noting that it is akin to the way Smith plays.
Additionally, the 56-year-old praised Ghulam for his ability to play the sweep shot and acknowledged the slight amount of swagger he possesses when batting.
“Pakistan players generally love the sweep shot, he’s got that in his locker. He used his feet as well. He’s got a bit of Steve Smith about him when he defends the ball and charges. He’s got a bit of swagger about him,” he said on Sky Cricket as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.
Ghulam recently featured in the three-match Test series against England and had an instant impact, scoring 118 on debut in the second Test in Multan.
Overall, the Upper Dir native concluded the series with 147 runs at an average of 49.
Ghulam is now involved in Pakistan’s white-ball series against Australia, which consists of three ODIs and three T20Is.
In the ODI series, he batted just once and scored five runs.
Following the Australia series, Pakistan will tour Zimbabwe and play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
