Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali has pointed out a major flaw in Babar Azam’s batting technique and noted that “the whole world is laughing”.
Basit has become aware of the fact that Azam’s stance is too wide when he is batting and questioned why the problem has not been corrected by the coaches and team management.
Azam, 30, is currently going through a tough time as he is struggling to score runs consistently.
This has become a huge issue for the men in green as the Lahore native is one of their frontline batsmen.
“Babar should reduce his stance. It’s too wide now. The whole world is laughing. Is this how you play?” Basit said on his YouTube channel as quoted by NDTV.
Azam recently scored 64 runs in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh at an average of 16.
He then proceeded to play for the Stallions in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition held in Faisalabad.
In four games, he amassed 230 runs, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 76.66.
Azam was then involved in Pakistan’s three-match Test series against England, but was only picked for the first Test, where he made scores of 30 and 5.
Despite Azam not being part of the playing XI for the second and third Tests, Pakistan went on to win 2-1, which earned them their first Test series victory on home soil since 2021.
Pakistan are now taking on Australia in a limited overs series, which consists of three ODIs and three T20Is.
After that, they will embark on a tour of Zimbabwe, where they will play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
