Pakistan spinner Shadab Khan said he can see all-rounder Mubasir Khan taking one of the middle order batting spots in the national team.
Mubasir has featured in one T20I to date, which came during the 2023 Asian Games in Hangzhou, China.
Having started to make a name for himself in domestic cricket, Shadab thinks it is only a matter of time until the 22-year-old is called up to the national team.
“I want him to cover the slots we have in the middle order for the Pakistan team and that is why we are giving him opportunities as well,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Mubasir recently featured in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a 50-over tournament held in Faisalabad.
In four games for the Panthers, he made 146 runs, which included a top score of 90, at an average of 36.50.
Bowling-wise, he claimed seven wickets at an average of 28.14.
Both Mubasir and Shadab were not part of Pakistan’s squad for their recent two-Test series against Bangladesh, which they lost 2-0.
The men in green then took on England in a three-match Test series and won 2-1, which earned them their first Test series win on home soil since 2021.
Pakistan are now playing three ODIs and three T20Is against Australia.
Afterwards, they will travel to Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
