Aamer Jamal: “He is a clean hitter and has performed at number 8 or 9”

Pakistan pace bowler Aamer Jamal has heaped praise on up-and-coming all-rounder Jahandad Khan, saying he is a “clean hitter” who has done well batting as low as number eight and nine.
Jahandad is considered to be a bright future prospect and is starting to showcase his capabilities with the bat and ball.
The 21-year-old was in solid form in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition that took place in Faisalabad.
He finished as the joint second-highest wicket-taker in the competition with 10 wickets in five matches for the Stallions at an average of 19, while also scoring 96 runs at an average of 24.
The Rawalpindi native was then involved in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament and accumulated 57 runs in five games for Pakistan TV, which included a top score of 51 not out, at an average of 19.
In addition to this, he also picked up seven wickets at an average of 26.57.
Having seen Jahandad’s progression, Jamal thinks the youngster is something special.
“He is a clean hitter and has performed at number 8 or 9,” he was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Neither Jahandad nor Jamal represented Pakistan in their recent two-Test series against Bangladesh, which the men in green lost 2-0.
However, Jamal was picked for the three-match Test series against England and claimed one wicket at an average of 165.
He also accumulated 114 runs, which included a top score of 55 not out, at an average of 28.50.
Pakistan ended up defeating England 2-1 to secure their first Test series win at home since 2021.
The men in green will now tour Australia for three ODIs and three T20Is from November 4 to 18.
Following this, they will head to Zimbabwe to play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
