Former Pakistan fast bowler Tanvir Ahmed has slammed middle order batsman Saud Shakeel for being selfish during the recent three-Test series against England.

In particular, Tanvir was not a fan of the way Shakeel played in the first innings of the first Test, where he made 82 runs off 177 balls, which included eight boundaries.

He noted that the 29-year-old, who is Pakistan’s Test vice-captain, did not properly think about what his team needed him to do at that point in time.

“100% selfish inning by Saud Shakeel very poor thinking,” Tanvir said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Despite Tanvir’s criticism, Shakeel ended up being Pakistan’s top run-scorer in the series with 280 runs, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 56.

Pakistan beat England 2-1, which gave them their first Test series victory on home soil since 2021.

The men in green will be back in action from November 4 to 18 when they take on Australia in three ODIs and three T20Is.

Following this, Pakistan will tour Zimbabwe for three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
