Pakistan batsman Ahmed Shehzad said he has “always raised my voice” for fast bowler Mohammad Hasnain as he really likes him.
Hasnain has seen his stock surge lately due to a string of strong performances at the domestic level.
In the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition that took place in Faisalabad, the 24-year-old finished as the highest wicket-taker with 17 victims in six matches for the Panthers at an average of 16.17.
After this, the Hyderabad native took part in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament and ended up being the joint third-highest wicket-taker with nine wickets in four games for Pakistan Television at an average of 19.55.
Considering the potential Hasnain has, Shehzad urged Pakistan to “protect and take care of him” as he has already suffered injuries in the past.
“I have always raised my voice for Mohammad Hasnain; personally, I like him. Whenever you have a fast bowler, you need to protect and take care of him; otherwise, he won’t be around for long. The situation is the same now; you are searching for a bowler, and you don’t have one. He has shown his performance. Opportunities come when the time is right, so there is still a need to be cautious and protect bowlers like Mohammad Hasnain,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.
Hasnain was not picked for Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, which they lost 2-0.
He also didn’t make the cut for the three-match Test series against England, which the men in green won 2-1 to secure their first Test series win on home soil since 2021.
