Former Pakistan seamer Tanvir Ahmed said the pace duo of Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah have “no speed” and shouldn’t be in the Test team anymore.
This comes after both of them featured in one of the two Tests Pakistan played against Bangladesh, with Afridi taking two wickets at an average of 48 and Naseem picking up three at an average of 33.33.
Most recently, they only played in the first Test against England. Afridi claimed one wicket at an average of 120 and Naseem snapped up two at an average of 78.50.
Even though Pakistan went on to win the three-Test series 2-1, Tanvir reiterated that Afridi and Naseem shouldn’t be part of the Test squad any longer as their approach, fitness levels and skills are nonexistent.
“Naseem shah age [21] years and Shaheen Afridi age 24 years, both should not be in the Test team. Approach 0, fitness level 0, skills level 0. No first-class experience, no speed,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Pakistan’s victory over England was a significant one as it marked their first Test series triumph on home soil since 2021.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a limited overs tour of Australia, where they will play three ODIs and three T20Is from November 4 to 18.
Following this, they will head to Zimbabwe for three ODIs and three T20Is from November 24 to December 5.
