Pakistan leg-spinner Shadab Khan has made it abundantly clear that he wants to play as much red-ball cricket as possible.
With the first-class domestic season right around the corner, Shadab is eager to bowl long spells and take plenty of wickets.
Even though he last played Test cricket in August 2020, the 26-year-old has expressed an interest to feature in the longest format again in the future.
“I will definitely play red-ball domestic cricket, this is my aim. We have 24 first-class matches this year, so I will try to play as much as possible,” he was quoted as saying by Grassroots Cricket on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Shadab recently captained the Panthers in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition held in Faisalabad, and took five wickets in five matches at an average of 37.
He also struck 120 runs, which included a top score of 65, at an average of 40.
Afterwards, he led Ghani Glass in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament and finished with four wickets in four games at an average of 55.75.
The Mianwali native also made 103 runs, which included a top score of 81, at an average of 34.33.
Pakistan recently took on Bangladesh in a two-Test series and were beaten 2-0 even though both games were held in Rawalpindi.
They are now facing England in a three-match Test series, which is tied at 1-1.
The third Test will get underway on October 24 in Rawalpindi.
