Former Pakistan batsman Basit Ali believes white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten will get fired after the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Basit doesn’t see the men in green doing well in the tournament and feels Kirsten will bear the brunt of the blame, which will ultimately result in his departure.

The Champions Trophy is scheduled to be held in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9.

“Congratulations to Gary Kirsten. He will be at the helm of the team till the Champions Trophy. However, he will be fired after the Champions Trophy. I am saying this now that it will be tata, bye bye for him. It will be a big achievement for Pakistan to make it to the top four. They have also stepped into the politics of Pakistani cricket. They won’t be successful,” Basit said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

The Pakistan team recently played a two-Test series against Bangladesh and were whitewashed 2-0 despite playing both games on home soil in Rawalpindi.

Many of the national players then featured in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition that took place in Faisalabad.

Currently, the men in green are involved in a three-match Test series against England, which is tied at 1-1.

The third Test will get underway on October 24 in Rawalpindi.

Pakistan Squad for 2nd and 3rd Tests against England: Shan Masood (captain), Saud Shakeel (vice-captain), Aamer Jamal, Abdullah Shafique, Haseebullah Khan (wicketkeeper), Kamran Ghulam, Mehran Mumtaz, Mir Hamza, Mohammad Ali, Muhammad Hurraira, Mohammad Rizwan (wicketkeeper), Noman Ali, Saim Ayub, Sajid Khan, Salman Ali Agha, Zahid Mahmood.
