Pakistan red-ball head coach Jason Gillespie wants the national team to be much more ruthless in order to turn their fortunes around.

His comments come after Pakistan tied their ongoing three-Test series against England 1-1 with a 152-run win in the second Test in Multan.

Gillespie stressed the importance of the men in green needing to show no mercy when they are in an advantageous position.

“What we need is a bit more ruthlessness. When we’re ahead, we need to stay ahead and make sure we drive home that advantage,” he said on the PCB Podcast as quoted by Cricket Pakistan.

Prior to the England Test series, Pakistan played two Tests against Bangladesh and were beaten 2-0.

Many of the national players then featured in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition held in Faisalabad.

The third Test between Pakistan and England will get underway on October 24 in Rawalpindi.
