Cricket commentator Shah Faisal expressed his disappointment at the fact that Pakistan all-rounder Faheem Ashraf was “never able to quite make it to the next level”.
Faheem was given multiple opportunities to cement his place in the national team and was the men in green’s go-to all-rounder at one point.
However, inconsistent performances led to the 30-year-old losing his spot and he has not played for his country since December 2023.
“He was never able to quite make it to the next level,” Faisal was quoted as saying by PakPassion on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Despite not being part of the Pakistan team for close to a year, Faheem is still active in domestic cricket and recently played in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over tournament held in Faisalabad.
In four games for the Dolphins, he scored 90 runs at an average of 22.50 and took seven wickets at an average of 28.14.
Currently, Faheem is in action for Pakistan TV in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament and has made 264 runs in five matches, which includes three fifties, at an average of 66.
The Kasur native has also snapped up six wickets at an average of 32.
Faheem was not part of Pakistan’s squad for the two-Test series against Bangladesh, which they lost 2-0.
The men in green are now taking on England in a three-Test series and trail 1-0 after losing the first Test in Multan by an innings and 47 runs.
The second Test started on October 15 in Multan.
