Pakistan batsman Tayyab Tahir is confident that he will get selected in the team for the 2025 Champions Trophy.
Tahir has been doing everything right to get on the selectors’ radar as he has dominated in domestic cricket as of late.
He recently finished as the third-highest run-scorer in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition that took place in Faisalabad.
In the five games he played for the Stallions, he accumulated 249 runs, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 49.80.
The 31-year-old is now involved in the President’s Cup Grade-I (1-Day) tournament and has made 225 runs in four matches for Ghani Glass, which includes a hundred and a half-century, at an average of 75.
Having excelled at the domestic level, Tahir is optimistic about his chances of getting picked for the Champions Trophy, which is scheduled to be held in Pakistan from February 19 to March 9.
“[I] look forward to represent Pakistan in [the] Champions Trophy,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
The Pakistan team recently faced Bangladesh in a two-Test series and were beaten 2-0.
They are now taking on England in a three-match Test series and trail 1-0 after losing the first Test in Multan by an innings and 47 runs.
The second Test will get underway on October 15 in Multan.
