Legendary Pakistan batsman Younis Khan fully believes Babar Azam can score 15,000 runs in Test cricket if he focuses on performing well.

Younis is Pakistan’s highest run-scorer in Test cricket as he is the only batsman from the country to surpass 10,000 runs.

Azam, who recently resigned as limited overs captain, has currently scored 3,962 runs in 54 Tests at an average of 44.51.

Despite not even being close to 10,000 runs, Younis reiterated that the 29-year-old is talented enough to not only overtake him but score an additional 5,000 runs.

“I scored 10,000 runs in my career, and I believe Babar Azam can score 15,000. He just needs to focus on his performance, like Virat Kohli did when he stepped down from captaincy to concentrate on his game,” he was quoted as saying by Cricket Pakistan.

Azam was recently involved in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, but only managed to make 64 runs at an average of 16.

He then played for the Stallions in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over tournament held in Faisalabad.

In four games, he amassed 230 runs, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 76.66.

Azam will be back in action when Pakistan take on England in a three-Test series, which will be held from October 7 to 28 in Multan and Rawalpindi.
