Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Moin Khan has urged Babar Azam to “become mentally strong” and learn to take criticism positively.
Azam recently resigned as Pakistan’s limited overs captain, but had been lambasted for his poor leadership skills and disappointing performances with the bat.
Many former cricketers have offered advice on how the 29-year-old can end his rough patch and Moin noted that Azam should listen or he will “keep sinking into problems and won’t be able to perform”.
“The ground is the only place where you can show your worth by playing well. Babar needs to become mentally strong and take the criticism positively; otherwise, he’ll keep sinking into problems and won’t be able to perform,” he told Cricket Pakistan.
Azam was involved in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh, but was unable to have an impact as he was limited to 64 runs at an average of 16.
He then proceeded to represent the Stallions in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition held in Faisalabad.
In the four games he played, he amassed 230 runs, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 76.66.
Next up for him and the Pakistan team will be a three-Test series against England, which will be held from October 7 to 28 in Multan and Rawalpindi.
