Former Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal has revealed how legendary India batsman Sachin Tendulkar helped him get iconic England batsman Kevin Pietersen out.

Ajmal recalled Tendulkar telling him to bowl the doosra to Pietersen, which proved to be the right advice as he ended up dismissing the England big-hitter.

The 46-year-old from Faisalabad also praised the ‘Little Master’ for his respect and called him “a very good man”.

“I played with him in a league in 2010. He told me to get Pietersen out by doing doosra. Then I got Pietersen out by doing doosra. He was very happy. Then when I took 4 wickets in 4 overs, Sachin told me that now the match has 6 wickets left, you should not finish it too early. He has always respected us. He is a very good man,” Ajmal was quoted as saying by NDTV.

The Pakistan team recently faced Bangladesh in a two-Test series and despite playing both matches on home soil in Rawalpindi, they ended up being whitewashed 2-0.

Many of the national players then featured in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over tournament held in Faisalabad.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-Test series against England, which will take place from October 7 to 28 in Multan and Rawalpindi.
