Pakistan big-hitter Sohaib Maqsood believes star batsman Babar Azam has yet to hit his prime.

Maqsood pointed out how India captain Rohit Sharma achieved so much after the age of 30 and noted that Azam is still 29 years old, which means he has plenty of time to accomplish great things in international cricket.

Lately, Azam hasn’t been anywhere near his best as he was limited to just 64 runs at an average of 16 in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh.

Despite the Lahore native’s runs having dried up, Maqsood urged people to keep calm and reiterated that the best is still yet to come for Azam.

“Rohit Sharma has scored 35 international centuries after crossing the age of 30 so keep calm Babar Azam’s prime [is] still to come,” he said on X, formerly known as Twitter.

After the Bangladesh series, Azam played for the Stallions in the Champions One-Day Cup, which was a domestic 50-over competition held in Faisalabad.

In four matches, he amassed 230 runs, which included a century and a fifty, at an average of 76.66.

Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-Test series against England, which will take place from October 7 to 28 in Multan and Rawalpindi.
