Former Pakistan cricketer Hasan Raza believes wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan is the “only option left” when it comes to the captaincy.
Currently, Babar Azam captains the men in green in limited overs cricket, while Shan Masood is in charge of the Test side.
However, both of them are facing an uncertain future as Pakistan haven’t been getting the results expected of them.
Aware of the current situation, Hasan feels Rizwan is the best man to become captain and feels the 32-year-old from Peshawar should be given a chance to show what he can do.
“Mohammad Rizwan is the only option left or else every player has become captain of Pakistan,” he was quoted as saying by journalist Arfa Feroz Zake on X, formerly known as Twitter.
Rizwan recently featured in Pakistan’s two-Test series against Bangladesh and dominated with the bat, scoring 294 runs, which included a career-best score of 171 not out, at an average of 98.
He is now leading the Markhors in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over tournament being played in Faisalabad.
In four matches, Rizwan has made 149 runs, which includes a top score of 51, at an average of 37.25.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-Test series against England, which will be held from October 7 to 28 in Multan and Rawalpindi.
