Kamran Akmal: “Honestly, if I were in charge, I swear I wouldn’t let Saim come near the team for the next two years after getting out like he did in the first innings of the second Test, especially after making 50 runs”

Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Kamran Akmal said he wouldn’t let opener Saim Ayub anywhere near the team for two years following his performance in the two-Test series against Bangladesh.
Akmal was specifically upset with the way Ayub got out after scoring 58 runs in the first innings of the second Test.
Having become settled at the crease, the 22-year-old went for a wild swing off the bowling of Mehidy Hasan Miraz and ended up being stumped by Litton Das.
“These guys are being supported way too much. Honestly, if I were in charge, I swear I wouldn’t let Saim come near the team for the next two years after getting out like he did in the first innings of the second Test, especially after making 50 runs,” Akmal told Cricket Pakistan.
Ayub finished the series with 135 runs, which included two fifties, at an average of 33.75 but Pakistan ended up losing 2-0.
The Karachi native is now playing for the Panthers in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over tournament being played in Faisalabad.
In three games, he has scored 36 runs at an average of 12.
Pakistan’s next assignment will be a three-match Test series against England, which is set to take place from October 7 to 28.
