Former Pakistan cricketer Basit Ali questioned if Babar Azam has “forgotten how to bat” following his subpar performance in the two-Test series against Bangladesh.

Azam’s form had been turbulent going into the series, but he was unable to shake off the cobwebs as he was restricted to 64 runs at an average of 16.

Basit admitted he was “very disappointed” as he expected a lot more from the 29-year-old, who is known for being the leader of Pakistan’s batting line-up.

“I’m feeling very disappointed that it seems as if you’ve forgotten how to bat,” he said on his YouTube channel as quoted by Sports Tak.

Pakistan ended up being whitewashed 2-0 by Bangladesh and will next take on England in a three-Test series, which will be held from October 7 to 28.

Right now, though, Azam is playing for the Stallions in the Champions One-Day Cup, which is a domestic 50-over tournament taking place in Faisalabad.

In his first two games, he scored 76 against the Lions and 45 against the Markhors.
